AOMedia previews AV2 encoding and playback demonstrations at IBC2026
Member companies plan demonstrations of AV2 software encoding, playback analysis and device testing in Amsterdam.
A fresh ecosystem update
AOMedia has outlined planned AV2 demonstrations for IBC2026. Its announcement page is dated September 9, with a September 10 press-release dateline. The update concerns implementations and tools following the codec specification’s earlier release, rather than a new specification launch today.
What members plan to demonstrate
According to AOMedia, Intel will show its open-source SVT-AV2 encoder. Allegro DVT plans multistream playback, analysis and compliance demonstrations, while Ittiam will present device evaluation tools. NVIDIA is listed with a visual AV1-versus-AV2 comparison.
What this means for streaming teams
Our takeaway: these demonstrations offer an opportunity to assess encoder maturity and playback interoperability. They do not establish universal device support or prove production readiness for a particular service. Evaluate performance with representative content and target devices before planning a migration.
